What is System Fusion?

System Fusion is a proprietary digital radio standard developed by Yaesu. It is used in their digital-capable radios and repeaters.

Yaesu System Fusion is a digital amateur radio platform that utilizes C4FM (Continuous 4-level Frequency Modulation) technology. Unlike older digital modes, System Fusion was designed from the ground up to be compatible with legacy analog FM systems, allowing for a seamless transition for radio operators.
System Fusion is a popular mode and a lot of repeaters can be found throughout the country.

Key Features:

• Dual-Mode Operation: System Fusion repeaters and radios can automatically detect whether an incoming signal is Analog FM or Digital C4FM, allowing both modes to coexist on the same frequency.
• Superior Voice Quality:The C4FM digital mode provides clear, crisp audio even in fringe signal areas where analog signals might typically suffer from static.
• Data Transmission:System Fusion supports the simultaneous transmission of high-speed data, enabling features like GPS location sharing, image transfer, and text messaging.

WIRES-X

Central to the System Fusion ecosystem is WIRES-X (Wide-coverage Internet Repeater Enhancement System). This internet-linking technology allows amateur radio operators to connect their local radios or repeaters to a global network of rooms and nodes. This connectivity enables communication with other hams across the country and around the world, bridging the gap between local RF transmission and global internet-linked digital communication.
